FastReport VCL 2027.1: FastGrid Update, New Controls, and RAD Studio 13.2 Support
Version 2027.1 introduces three new UI components: TfrTabControl, TfrImageComboBox, and TfrProgressBar, as well as a new report object, TfrxProgressBarView. FastGrid has also been updated to support grand totals and group totals. The report engine now supports tabs in the "Text" object and caching of TfrxReportPage.BackPicture to reduce memory consumption. Exports have received quality improvements and new features, and FastScript now supports Multistring, as in the latest Delphi versions. All of this comes with support for RAD Studio 13.2 and Lazarus.
New UI Controls
TfrTabControl: Moving and Closing Tabs
TfrTabControl is an alternative to the standard TabControl that supports all standard functionality plus additional features:
— Automatic tab reordering (Drag and Drop): tabs can be moved and reordered without writing additional event handlers.
— Tab close button: tabs can be closed using a button, with the action handled through events.
With our TfrTabControl control, you don't need to write additional code to create a tabbed interface with support for closing and moving tabs.
TfrProgressBar: Progress Indicator with Threshold Values
The new TfrProgressBar editor not only displays progress but also lets you define and display threshold values on its scale.
The editor provides settings to control the display, letting you fine-tune the scale's appearance to suit your needs.
TfrImageComboBox: Drop-Down List with Images
The new TfrImageComboBox component features a drop-down list with images, offering functionality not available in the standard component palette. It lets you assign an image to each list item and provides built-in filtering by inclusion, along with a range of other settings to customize the editor to your needs.
FastGrid Update: Totals and Automatic Column Width
FastGrid has received a major update. The key feature of this release is support for automatically calculating totals across an entire column and for each group. Several functions are available for calculating totals: minimum, maximum, sum, count, and average. Group totals can be displayed in group headers and footers. The appearance of the totals row can be flexibly configured using built-in event handlers. Totals can be displayed for collapsed groups. And, of course, totals can be printed in reports and exports.
All new editors are available as field editors in the grid. The grid automatically adjusts column widths to fit their contents, ensuring an optimal layout for your data.
To manage all the available functionality, we have added convenient pop-up context menus.
FastReport VCL and Lazarus
FastReport has received updates to its engine, report objects, and export functionality.
The new TfrxProgressBarView report object, based on the TfrProgressBar editor, lets you display a progress indicator with threshold values on its scale and link it to report data.
Improvements to the Engine and Report Objects
The "Text" object now supports tabs for printing and editing. This functionality is configured through the AllowTabs property to preserve the compatibility of your existing reports.
The new DrawOptions property of TfrxPDFView allows the contents of XForm to be displayed, which is normally disabled during printing.
The report tree in the designer now supports drag-and-drop reordering of report objects. You can rearrange objects directly in the tree. In addition, when you rename an event handler in the report object inspector, its name is automatically updated in the report script.
The report engine now supports image caching for TfrxReportPage.BackPicture in preview mode (EngineOptions.BackPictureInCache) and in the report designer. Reports with BackPicture set consume significantly fewer resources.
You can now use the TfrxReport.HasFunction method to check whether a custom function has been registered. Report validation has also been improved.
Export Improvements
The export engine has also received several improvements. DOCX export now supports bookmarks, which can be added to arbitrary report objects through the ExportsSettings property. This makes it possible to insert additional markers into a document for subsequent machine processing.
PDF export has been improved, including its handling of electronic signatures and EMF conversion. Text export now has a new UTF8BOM property for controlling the BOM header.
Report Server
The report server component can now be configured to operate outside the root directory using the UseRootForHTTPServerResources property, allowing relative paths to be used for server resources.
FastScript: Multistring Support
The FastScript scripting engine now supports Multistring — a new syntactic convenience that allows multiline string literals to be declared, as in the latest versions of Delphi (for more information about the syntax, see).
FastReport FMX
XLSX export now supports HTML tags, while RTF export has extended its HTML tag support to include <sub> and <sup>. Report components' behaviour on the macOS ARM 64-bit platform has also been improved.
