    Export

A finished report can be saved in a wide range of formats: prepared report (FPX), Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Microsoft Word, Excel, Open Office Calc, Open Office Writer, RTF, XPS, plain text, XML, CSV and others.

    Where exports come from

The online designer is only the editor — it does not produce export files itself. Rendering and serialization are performed by the backend (the web report service that the designer is connected to). The set of formats available in the export menu, the rendering quality and the supported options therefore depend entirely on which backend is in use.

Two backends are supported, and each ships its own set of exporters:

    • FastReport .NET backend — prepared report (FPX), PDF, Excel, Microsoft Word, TXT, RTF, XPS, OpenOffice Calc, OpenOffice Writer, Excel XML and CSV.
    • FastReport VCL backend — prepared report (FP3), PDF, RTF, OpenDocument Text and Spreadsheet, Excel, Excel XML, CSV and TXT.

The set of items in the export menu is fully determined by the capabilities of the connected backend: if a format is not listed there, it simply means that this format is not implemented on the backend side.

    Triggering an export

To export a report, run it in preview mode, hover over the save button on the toolbar and pick the desired format from the drop-down list:

After choosing a format the file is built on the backend and downloaded by the browser.

A report can also be printed straight from the preview — click the printer icon on the toolbar to open the standard printing dialog of the browser.
