Report (Prepared report) | A report is a document that can be generated from a set of data obtained from any application, file, or DBMS. The report is usually generated from a pre-defined template, but it can also be built from application code. The report can be interactive and can be restructured (modified) based on user commands (manipulations). The prepared report is a generated document saved in the internal format of the report generation system. The prepared report cannot be restructured or modified, but can be exported to files of other formats. |
Template | A pre-defined layout for further report generation. The template can be stored in a file, DBMS, or network resource. The report template may contain bindings to external data, their description, parameters, and script. A special program—designer—can be used for template editing. |
Export | A document or file in any format, created based on a prepared report. For example, these can be PDF, Excel, JPEG files, etc. The creation of the file can be combined with its sending as an email message or storage in network repositories. |
Designer | Program for creating and editing report templates. It can be installed on a computer or run in a browser (online designer). |
